Background: A North American functional beverage brand was developing a natural immune support and energy supplement line. Cordyceps Militaris Extract (蛹虫草) and Cordyceps Sinensis Extract (冬虫夏草) are derived from different species within the same genus[reference:65]. Cordyceps Militaris is cultivated on silkworm pupae or grain substrates and is known for its high cordycepin content[reference:66], which is not found in Cordyceps Sinensis. Cordyceps Sinensis is a rare wild fungus that grows on ghost moth larvae and is significantly more expensive.
