*Ilex pubescens* (Mao Dong Qing) is cold in nature. Traditional medicine holds that it alleviates symptoms associated with "heat-toxin," such as sore throat, oral ulcers, and skin sores; it is suitable for consumption during summer or for managing conditions caused by excessive internal heat.

2. Promoting Blood Circulation and Unblocking Vessels
Modern research indicates that the flavonoids in *Ilex pubescens* may help dilate blood vessels and promote blood circulation. While it offers potential benefits for managing high blood pressure, high blood lipids, and cardiovascular/cerebrovascular health, it cannot replace medical treatment.

3. Relieving Cough and Phlegm
*Ilex pubescens* tea is commonly used in folk remedies to relieve coughs caused by "wind-heat" and to address thick, sticky phlegm.
